Showmanship!

Ah, showmanship. Probably one of the most fun things you get to participate in as an Angora breeder. Showmanship is the main reason why I breed Satin Angoras, because they're an amazing show rabbit! Showmanship is also a good way to market rabbits. I love meeting new people at shows and seeing all the different-colored Angoras!

Some people feel very intimidated showing rabbits/going to rabbit shows. Don't be! We rabbit enthusiasts and breeders do it mostly for fun. It may be like a competitive sport for us but we all know we're just there to have some fun...which it is! Even if showmanship is not your cup of tea, I recommend going to at least TWO local shows in your area. I think even you'll find some pleasure and charm to them.

First and foremost, you'll probably want to be a member of 4-H if you're youth or ARBA if you're still youth or an adult. Don't know what ARBA is? Let me explain.

ARBA stands for 'American Rabbit Breeders Association'. They specialize in all kind of rabbit breeds, from meat to pet to fiber. If you join, you'll be sent catalogs of rabbit shows listed around you and a subscription of Rabbit Fancy monthly. Here's their website: https://www.arba.net/

ARBA is a great showmanship orginization. I love them because they don't cater only to meat rabbits like 4-H and FFA. I feel like I can branch out to more people that way. Satin Angoras have always been popular at ARBA shows because of their cool appearences. They look like shiny furballs with faces! What's not to love about that?
