List of Safe Plants for Rabbits

Everything me and my family grow in our gardens and backyard is safe for rabbits to consume. After lots of observations, testing, and a lot of research, here is the list I compiled of safe plants for rabbits. 

NOTE: This list is constantly being updated. If you see plants that are safe for rabbits that are not on this list, feel free to email me; and I do some research before adding a new plant.

 

Alfalfa-everything.

Almond-unsalted.

Apple-Everything except the seeds. Seeds are toxic and carry Cyanide.

 

Basil-Above ground parts.
Blackberry-Leaves and flowers are okay. Too many berries may cause dierrhea.
Blue Cohosh-everything. Only give to does who are giving birth/struggling with kindling.

Borage-Above ground parts.

 

Cat-Tail-everything.
Chamomile-everything.

Chickweed-Above ground parts.
Chicory-everything.
Cilantro-everything.
Clover - Above ground parts.
Comfrey-Only leaves

 

Dandelion-everything (a must).

 

Eucalyptus-Dried and powdered. Small doses.

 

Grape-Leaves and vines. Berries may cause Dierrhea.

 

Hackberry-Leaves, twigs.

Huckleberry-All parts are okay.

 

Jewelweed Impatiens-Leaves, stems.

 

Lambs-Quarters-Above ground parts.
Lemon Balm -Above ground parts.

Lavender-Flower and stem. Use only so often.

 

Marshmallow -All parts.
Maple, Silver -Leaves and branches.
Maple, Sugar-Leaves and branches.
Mint -Above ground parts. Not to pregnant/nursing does.
Mulberry-Leaves, twigs, small branches.

 

Nettle-Must be dried.

 

Papaya-Cut into chunks. Can be fresh or ried, helps wth wool block.

Parsley-Everything.
Pear-Leaves, branches, fruit. Seeds may be toxic.
Pigweed-Leaves, stems.


Queen Anne’s Lace-All parts, except seeds.

Radish-All parts.
Raspberry-Above ground parts.
Redroot-Above ground parts.
Rose-Above ground parts.

 

Sassafrass-Best dried and powdered.

Shepherd’s Purse-Above ground parts.
Sow Thistle-everything
Squash-Young leaves and stems, fruit, seeds.
Strawberry-Above ground parts.
Sweet Potato- Rich and fattening.
Sunflower-Above ground parts.

 

Thistle-Flowers and Stems. Bunnies can eat prickles!

 

Willow-Leaves and branches.
Wing Stem-Leaves, flowers, stems.

 

Yarrow-Leaves, stems. Not to pregnant/nursing does.
