Colors we Specialize In

At Opal Hill Angoras, we specialize in specific colors to help improve the sheen and intensity of each coat to make each bunny

a bit more beautiful than the last. It is best for breeders to specialize in certain colors to help improve that section of the breed.

Opal Hill Angoras specializes in Reds, Fawns, Torts (specifically Chocolate and Lilac), Pearls, and Dilutes.

By FAR the most common colors we get at out rabbitry are the wide-band colors, which consist of red, fawn, or cream...and happen to be my favorite colors on an Angora. Their wool comes out nice and colorful and will produce gorgeous babies when bred with a chocolate tort or another wide-band Angora.

We have been trying to improve the coats of the Wide-Band colors and bring out more intensity in the dilute colors (for example, a more purple-like coat on lilac torts). This is usually just done by breeding two of the same colors together or breeding with a color that won't cause your baby bunnies to have splotchy-colored wool.

At our rabbitry, we have over 15 different established colors of Pearl. Even though these group of colors rarely comes up, almost all our breeding rabbits at the rabbitry carry Pearl. Because of this, we have decided to work with the color whenever it comes up, but usually we sell off the Pearl babies instead of keeping them since breeding them can be a pain. However, recently, we have lately been trying to see if we can increase the amount of Pearls since, well...they're gorgeous! Especially when it's a Pearl Satin Angora. The Pearl colors we get at our rabbitry are (listed by the most common to rarest): Chocolate Sable Frosted Pearl, Black Frosted Pearl, Sable Frosted Pearl, Chocolate Frosted Pearl, Chocolate Pearl, Sable Pearl, Blue Frosted Pearl, Lilac Frosted Pearl, Smoke Pearl Frosted Pearl, Lilac Sable Frosted Pearl, Blue Pearl (self), Blue Pearl (r.g), Lilac Pearl (self), Lilac Pearl (r.g).

We are continuing to work with all these colors and trying to improve them. Email me for a complete list.
